Text-to-License

Paste the text of a license and the assistant proposes the DALICC model for it. The proposal covers the asset types, the permissions with their duties, the prohibitions and the clause texts, and it quotes the sentence of the license behind every statement. Nothing is published. What comes back is a draft for you to check, and it opens in the License Composer for review.

Text-to-License needs a DALICC account. Log in, and paste the text of a license to get a draft model.

What it does, and what it does not

  • It is not legal advice. A proposal is a reading by software and has to be checked against the license text before anyone relies on it.
  • It only proposes. Every statement carries the quote it came from and a confidence, and you decide what to keep.
  • It uses only the terms of the DALICC vocabulary. A clause that no term fits is listed separately with a proposed name for a term, and it is never forced into a term that means something else.
  • It never publishes anything. Signed in, you can save the proposal as a private draft, and publishing stays a separate step in the License Composer.
  • The text is sent to an external provider for processing and is not stored by DALICC. What DALICC keeps is the counts: how many parts, how many characters and how many tokens.
